Grapefruit's Summertime Glow

Grapefruit virtually glows with good health, especially in the summertime. Packed with the antioxidant Vitamin C, grapefruit boasts Vitamin A and potassium, and it's naturally heart healthy, and fat and cholesterol free. Plus, it happens to taste delicious and look gorgeous, too. For entertaining or everyday meals, add fresh bursts of flavor and color to all kinds of recipes and garnishes. For goodness sake, it's time to give your summer the grapefruit glow!

  • Get a party started with a tray of Rubytini cocktails. Accent the glasses with wedges of fresh ruby grapefruit for that dashing difference.
  • Cranberry and grapefruit party together in what would have to be an all-time favorite cocktail. Let this Sea Breeze wash over your summer gathering and enjoy the lively conversations in its wake.

  • You've heard of grilling pineapple? Be the first one on your block to discover this colorful treat: Grill thick slices of ruby red grapefruit sprinkled with brown sugar, honey and a hint of cinnamon. Serve with a scoop of frozen yogurt and an edible flower garnish to "wow'" your guests.
  • Fun Fact: What's the difference between ruby red and white grapefruit? Ruby red grapefruit get their ruby hue from naturally-occurring carotene, which is a form of Vitamin A. The pinker the grapefruit, the more Vitamin A it contains.
  • Grapefruit juice can be substituted in most recipes for lemon or orange juice, so give your favorite recipes a little twist - of grapefruit magic.
